Why Backup?

  • Protection against accidental deletion
  • Export data to another password manager
  • Archive for compliance requirements
  • Disaster recovery

Creating a Backup

  1. Go to Settings → Backup & Export
  2. Click "Create Backup"
  3. Choose backup format:
    • Encrypted Backup: Password-protected (recommended)
    • CSV Export: Plain text (use carefully)
    • JSON Export: Structured data
  4. Set encryption password (for encrypted backups)
  5. Click "Download Backup"
  6. Store the file in a secure location

Backup Best Practices

  • Create backups regularly (monthly recommended)
  • Store backups in multiple secure locations
  • Use strong encryption passwords
  • Test restoring from backup occasionally
  • Never store backups in public cloud unencrypted
  • Delete old backups after verification

Restoring from Backup

  1. Go to Settings → Backup & Export
  2. Click "Restore from Backup"
  3. Select your backup file
  4. Enter encryption password (if applicable)
  5. Choose import options:
    • Merge with existing data
    • Replace all data (careful!)
  6. Click "Restore"
  7. Verify data after restoration

Automatic Backups (Team Admin Feature)

Team Admins can configure automatic backups:

  • Schedule: Daily, weekly, or monthly
  • Retention: How long to keep backups
  • Storage: Server storage or email delivery
  • Encryption: Always encrypted

Version History

Every record has version history:

  • View previous versions of a record
  • See who made changes and when
  • Restore previous version if needed
  • History kept for 90 days
